Over 5800 votes assigned by the people’s jury in just two weeks to the tenth finalist of the Conad Jazz Contest, a competition dedicated to emerging musicians between 18 and 28 years now in its ninth edition, which joins the nine finalists selected by the technical jury. The young aspiring musicians selected in this way will perform on the prestigious Umbria Jazz stage (Perugia, 8-17 July 2022) to win the final prize of € 5000. Bologna, 30 June 2022. Conad and the Umbria Jazz Foundation, historical partners of the Conad Jazz Contest, announce the ten finalists of the ninth edition of the Contest. The nine bands selected by the Technical Jury – Attilio Sepe “Nomads”, Emanuele Marsico Momo ‘Ensemble, Five Angry Men, GoGoDucks, Lorenzo Vitolo, Matteo Zaccheo Trio, OLIVIA, Prati Boyz and Soft Winds – together with the selected finalists of the People’s Jury – Urban Quartet – will perform live on stage within the official Umbria Jazz program, starting from 11 July.
The work of the technical jury chaired by Manuele Morbidini, saxophonist and composer as well as music director of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra, which selected 9 of the 10 finalists of this edition, was difficult and intense. A real plebiscite with the popular jury that led to the choice of the Urban Quartet, with 5810 votes, which will thus have the opportunity to perform on one of the most coveted stages of jazz as well as obtain a voucher worth € 500 to be used in a engraving room by the end of 2022.
The 10 finalists thus identified will perform on the prestigious Umbria Jazz stage during the festival to be held in Perugia from 8 to 17 July, with the artistic jury – chaired by Stefano Bragatto, Director of Radio Monte Carlo
- who will decide the overall winner of the Contest, which will win a prize of € 5,000 as a contribution to his career, as well as having the opportunity to perform throughout the rest of 2022 on the most prestigious jazz stages around Italy. Who knows that this year too the finalists will not reserve a surprise as in the last edition, in which Anais Drago, finalist of the eighth edition of the Contest (the first classified of the 2019 edition was Michelangelo Scandroglio) was particularly appreciated by the public present at Perugia, leading him to start a career that this year sees him perform every night at the Restaurant Stage of Umbria Jazz, in the pre-show in Arena Santa Giuliana.
An appointment therefore in Perugia at the Conad Stage of the Carducci Gardens starting from 11 July at 3 pm for the jazz-loving public and to kick off new musical careers in the jazz field, thanks to the initiative of Conad, historical partner of the Festival and company. has always been careful to offer opportunities to the most deserving young people and promote the dissemination of culture as a common heritage, both through the sponsorship of projects promoted by third parties, and through initiatives carried out independently and directly, as part of its concrete sustainability strategy “We support the future ”based on three dimensions: environment and resources, people and communities, businesses and territory.
